Then call 1-800-400-7115 and they will step you through the process. I had a surprisingly positive and pleasant experience last year with the CA tax office. This after pulling my hair out for 30 minutes trying to figure it out online. Call them, they are nice.

Log in and start the process for a new permit using the link for “Register a new business acivity” If you get bogged down don’t get frustrated just call 1-800-400-7115 for help

I have attached a few screen shots as I went through the process (NAICS business codes listed below) the address to use for the MBJF, I used Kingsley North for the supplier info, why CA taxes wants to know who one of your suppliers is, is beyond me but it’s part of the process, just pick a business you deal with. When I finished the 15 minute application it was automatically approved and I printed out my license to display.

Here are some possible NAICS codes you can use to describe your business
339910 Jewelry and silverware manufacturing
454390 – “Other Direct Selling Establishments”; For those who only sell at a temporary set-up. (Craft show tables, farmer’s market booths, street vendor trucks/wagons)
All Other Miscellaneous Retailers
458310 Jewelry Retailers
459420 Gift, Novelty, and Souvenir Retailers
